TV audience of almost 400 million
During the six-day championships, 25,000 spectators are expected to gather in Zurich daily to watch the action, with a further 370 million viewers from around the world set to follow the competition on TV. For the first time, the championships are about more than sport alone and boast a colorful accompanying program of events, including an opening ceremony featuring live music from the Swiss artist DJ BoBo and Finnish rock band Sunrise Avenue. The sports competitions are being held in Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium with the marathon and race walking taking place in the city center. Conceptum Sport Logistics is transporting the team and other official equipment to Zurich by air and land, a feat which the expert team based near Frankfurt consider as a type of sport in itself.
