2017 Taipei Summer Universiade 365-Day Countdown Celebration
2017 Taipei Summer Universiade will take place from August 19-30, 2017, athletes and officials from 150 countries are anticipated to participate. The 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade Organizing Committee (TUOC) convened the "Final 365-Day Countdown" press conference on August 11th at the Taipei City Hall commemorating an important milestone as the 365-day countdown to the 29th Summer Universiade begins.
TUOC’s CEO, Su Li-chung, Sports Administration Director, Hsiu-ling Hsu, and representatives from the Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation came together in unified support showing that Taipei is well prepared for the upcoming Summer Universiade. FISU Summer Universiade Director Marc Vandenplas made a special appearance expressing overwhelming approval of the Taipei City Government's preparation process and progress, and wishing next year’s event great success. The local smart card company EasyCard Corp. Chairman, Kenneth Lin was also in attendance debuting three commemorative EasyCards with a design featuring 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade’s friendly mascot－Formosan Black Bear to mark the 365-day countdown.
On August 20th a "Final 365-Day Countdown" celebration activity will be held at the City Hall Square inviting the public to come welcome the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade together. To showcase our hospitality, the City Hall Square will be turned into a picturesque global village with foods, exhibits, and interactive experiential games introducing the unique culture of each country. Among the extravaganza will be Southeast Asian food tasting, Indian dancing, and trying on traditional African clothing.
