Teqball - 18 Jan 2022
Teqball USA, the national top-tier competition for the soccer-related sport played over a curved table, has struck its first major TV content and programming deal, with major US sports broadcaster ESPN.
This represents the first deal the league has entered into with a heavyweight linear broadcast partner.
The deal includes six television highlight shows being produced through the 2022 season, four on the linear ESPN2 channel and two on ESPNU.
In addition, all 12 events on the USA Teqball Tour this calendar year will be available to live-stream through ESPN3.
The partnership got underway on January 16, with ESPN covering the first Teqball tournament of 2022 in San Diego, California.
The tournament schedule and selected locations, Teqball USA has said, are chosen “to ensure the sport creates an amazing Teqball experience for the TV audience, the athletes, and for fans.”
Ajay Nwosu, president of the US National Teqball Federation and chief executive of Teqball USA, said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with ESPN as our first national television partner … After a very successful 2021 we decided to take the next milestone of bringing the sport to the masses and there is no better sports audience than that of ESPN."
