FanDuel to deliver PGA Tour highlights via Sportsbook app

FanDuel, the US fantasy sports and betting company, has announced it is to start providing real-time highlights of events from men's golf's PGA Tour to its users.

Starting this week with the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, FanDuel will use video technology provider WSC Sports’ artificial intelligence technology to deliver highlights to customers through FanDuel Sportsbook app notifications for tournaments throughout 2021.

The move builds on the partnership announced last August under which FanDuel became an official betting operator of the PGA Tour, gaining content and video rights to create pre- and post-match betting programming, and to distribute highlights to users placing bets.

Adam Kaplan, general manage and vice-president of sports content at FanDuel, said: “We’re taking the FanDuel Sportsbook app experience beyond just placing a bet – now our customers will get the best tour highlights delivered to them each week to consume and act on.

“Part of our ongoing focus is providing a fully integrated experience that gives our customers the ability to follow and interact in real-time with the sports they care about.”

FanDuel added it hopes to expand into providing video content from other sports bodies and leagues in the future.

Norb Gambuzza, senior vice-president of media and gaming at the PGA Tour, said: “Engaging new fans with PGA Tour content is a top priority of our sports betting strategy and this innovation with FanDuel is a key step in that direction.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that a second-screen betting-infused show is to launch on Comcast-owned streaming service Peacock Premium in a collaboration between US national network NBC, the PGA Tour and online sportsbook PointsBet.

The NBC Sports Edge BetCast will go out for the first time on Peacock on 7 February during the Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Texas, with the show running live and concurrent to the coverage on the linear NBC television channel.
