EA7, the sports brand of Italian fashion house Emporio Armani, has signed up as a main sponsor of the Cortina 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The deal for the 7 to 21 February championships in the Italian ski resort was brokered by the Infront agency.

EA7 will benefit from global exposure through on-course advertising, and have an on-site presence in the VIP area.

Valerio Giacobbi, chief executive of Fondazione Cortina 2021, the championships organiser, said: "We are proud to have an Italian brand that invests in a great international event like ours. We have always hoped for the involvement of an internationally leading Italian fashion brand: for Cortina this is certainly a further important sign of recovery and confidence despite the difficult situation."

Michael Witta, Infront vice-president marketing sales, added: "The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are one of the highlights of the winter sports calendar and welcoming a prestigious brand like EA7 reflects the stature and scope of the event. The brand has a history of aligning itself with the best in sport and we are delighted to see them take advantage of this ski festival."

In November, Infront brought in Telepass, the Italian mobility company, as the presenting sponsor of Cortina 2021.

EA7 joins Pirelli, Audi, Helvetia and Liqui Moly as official main sponsors of the championships while Longines is the official timekeeper.

Earlier this month, EA7 Emporio Armani renewed its sponsorship of CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, and will kit out the Italian team at this year's delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
