EY signs up as supplier of Rugby World Cup again
World Rugby, rugby union’s world governing body, has announced the appointment of EY, the professional services company, as professional services supplier of next year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Under the agreement, EY, which joins the third tier of tournament sponsors, will provide a full range of professional advisory services, including tax and accounting for the tournament, which kicks off on 20 September.
EY, which reprises its role in the 2015 Rugby World in England as a supplier, was also a principal partner of the British and Irish Lions’ tour of New Zealand in 2017 and a sponsor of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland in the same year.
Bill Beaumont, chair of World Rugby, said: “EY is a global leader in the accountancy, tax and business advisory sectors, and their services will be critical to an event, which is rapidly proving to be the most globally-impactful Rugby World Cup ever.”
EY joins Gilbert, Tudor, Toppan Printing, Canterbury and NTT DOCOMO as a tournament supplier.
The Rugby World Cup 2019 commercial programme also features six worldwide partners - Emirates, Heineken, Land Rover, Mastercard, Société Générale and DHL - and six official sponsors, namely Canon, Toto Ltd, Secom, Taisho Pharmaceutical, Mitsubishi Estate and NEC.
