Denmark was awarded the 2016 World Rowing Masters Regatta at the annual FISA Ordinary Congress that took place on Monday, 2 September following the completion of the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju, Korea. Denmark was up against the strong contestants from Lithuania, Slovenia and Bulgaria.

Today the Danish bid for 2016 World Rowing Masters Regatta was presented to FISA Masters Rowing Commission in London. Should the event be awarded Denmark, the participants will have a scenic venue on a natural lake in a beautiful forest just 10 miles from Copenhagen – the capital awarded Sport Event City 2011.

FISA, the International Rowing Federation, today held its annual Congress on the occasion of the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand. The Congress was held in Hamilton, near Lake Karapiro where the Championships were held over the past eight days.

"It will not take another 32 years until we come back," he promised, referring to the gap between this year's World Rowing Championships and when it was last in New Zealand.

A total of 49 national rowing teams shall be heading for Lake Karapiro, New Zealand to compete at the 2010 World Rowing Championships staged by FISA, the International Rowing Federation from 31 October to 7 November. Among the entries, Samoa and the United Arab Emirates will appear for the first time at the World Rowing Championships.

The third and final stage of the 2010 Rowing World Cup will begin tomorrow morning, Friday 9 July at 8 a.m. at the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. This is the last chance for national teams to test their speed against other countries before preparation begins for this year's World Rowing Championships at the later time of the end of October in Karapiro, New Zealand.
