The Executive Committee of the Polish University Sports Association (ASZ) and the Authorities of the City of Poznan regretfully informed FISU they resign from further bidding to organize the 2015 Summer Universiade. ‘The financial crisis in the world’s economy disables the Polish government from providing financial guarantees to cover the costs’, the official communiqué read.

2009/03/06&nbsp; (Kaohsiung) In The World Games 2005 Duisburg, the Russian multi-sport delegation placed first in the overall medal table. 57 medals (27 gold, 19 silver and 11 bronze) reflected not only Russian sporting supremacy but also the support which the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and other national sports organizations provided to their athletes.

2009/02/23 In January, 2009, a couple of days before the completion of Main Stadium, the architect Toyo Ito came to Kaohsiung for construction inspection and light testing. It was also the first time that the Main Stadium was opened to public. It took about six and half minutes to switch on all the lights inside the stadium, with the systems radiating an average of 3300 Luxs.
