This weekend the ICF Board met in Manchester to award their major events. Denmark was awarded the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships after a bid-sprint out of the extraordinary where the strong competitor Canada seemed to be the favorite.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, who is also IOC member, got very near to the canoe sport when he Friday afternoon participated in the opening of the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships on Lake Bagsvaerd.

The 2015 Canoe Sprint World Cup will be staged in Denmark. Denmark has just been awarded the event by the International Canoe Federation at the ICF board of directors meeting in Glasgow this weekend. The strong bidders were Belgrade (SER), Poznan (POL), Moscow (RUS), Copenhagen (DEN), Duisburg (GER) and Brandenburg (GER)

The ICF is excited to announce that is has secured a TV production company, Hit the Roof (HTR) to produce highlights of the Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom World Cups for 2009. HTR have extensive experience handling TV sport production for Wrestling, Archery and Universiade events.

The newly constructed Canoe-Kayak centre in St Pierre-de-Boeuf, near Lyon in France was the location this week for the ICFs technical test of the course layouts and competition format for the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010. Aside from the occasional light rain, the weather was ideal for canoeing.<BR>

The ICF made a site visit to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, near Halifax in Canada, last week to visit the site of the Canoe Sprint World Championships at Lake Banook that will take place on 12-16 August 2009.

In accordance to the latest information received from Chinese Taipei Canoe association the following Asian Championships, which were supposed to be held in Taiwan, because of the outbreak disease of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) for protecting the athletes of being affected have been postponed until the SARS has completely subsided.

After thorough discussion with the ICF medical committee and consulting the health authorities including the WHO, which advise against travelling to Guangzhou at the moment, the Executive Committee has decided to cancel the slalom world cup in Guangzhou in May 2003.
