7th SPONSORs Sports Media Summit: Telekom's Head of Sports Marketing Stiegenroth to Speak for First Time on the DFL's Decision and its Impact on Deutsche Telekom's Sports Strategy
1:1 chat with Jürgen Lenz, a pioneer of the sports business industry

Düsseldorf, 22 May 2012 – On Thursday 24 May, the sports media industry will come together in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf for the 7th SPONSORs Sports Media Summit. National and international top speakers will once again discuss the latest issues in the world of sports media at this year’s high-profile conference.

Among the highlights at this year’s event count a 1:1 chat with Dr. Henning Stiegenroth, Head of Sports Marketing at Deutsche Telekom. In his discussion with SPONSORs Editor-in-Chief Marco Klewenhagen on the Main Stage at 16:30, Stiegenroth will speak in public for the first time on the DFL’s decision in the bidding contest for the audiovisual rights. Just a few weeks ago, the DFL awarded the pay TV live rights for the first and second Bundesligas for which Telekom also submitted a bid to Sky. The IPTV broadcasting rights previously held by Telekom were also awarded to Sky. So what now? At the SPONSORs Sports Media Summit, Henning Stiegenroth will share exclusive insights into the future sports strategy of Europe’s largest telecommunications company.

Another top speaker is also due to take to the Main Stage at 17:05 on 24 May: Jürgen Lenz, who is one of the most influential personalities in the sports business industry and a co-founder of the UEFA Champions League (together with former UEFA President Lennart Johansson, former UEFA General Secretary Gerhard Aigner, and business partner, Klaus Hempel). Lenz will hold a presentation on “How the ‘Big Bang’ in the sports business industry changed the market” before responding to questions during a 1:1 chat with Marco Klewenhagen.
