Soccerex Presents UEFA Exclusive on Media Rights Centralisation
Soccerex are thrilled to announce that Gianni Infantino, UEFA General Secretary and Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA’s Marketing Director, will be part of an exclusive session on UEFA’s plans to centralise media rights for national team matches at this year’s Soccerex European Forum in Manchester, 28-29 March. This will be the first time UEFA have officially spoken publicly about the initiative which will come into effect in 2014.

In a move which will have a seismic effect on the football world, UEFA will centralise the media rights for the European qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup ™ 2018 and the UEFA European Football Championship 2016.

The session will explain in detail the strategic motives behind the decision, discuss how the product will be branded, timetabled and delivered to the viewers. It will also consider the impact the changes will have on the industry’s stakeholders; namely the fans, broadcasters, sponsors and agencies.

‘This is arguably the most exciting new sports rights product since the UEFA Champions League was created in 1992 and to have UEFA talk about it publicly for the first time at the Soccerex European Forum is not only a great privilege, it demonstrates why Soccerex is the leading football business event,’ said Duncan Revie, Soccerex CEO.

UEFA’s presentation is one of many key topics being discussed at the Soccerex European Forum. The conference will also include sessions on player and coach development in the wake of Financial Fair Play and the new Elite Player Performance Plan; the ‘Art of Management,’ a presentation from one of Europe’s most successful managers; a look at the relationship between betting and football with consideration to the issue of match fixing; a look at club ownership and financial management with regard to Financial Fair Play; the changing landscape of football sponsorship and a session looking at the turbulent relationship between football and the media.

Delegates attending this year’s event will benefit from a packed exhibition showcasing the latest industry products and services. There will also be a host of informal and formal networking opportunities for delegates to maximise the business opportunities available and enjoy the unique atmosphere Soccerex events create.
