St Andrews to host 150th British Open in 2021
St Andrews in Scotland has, as expected, been named the host venue for golf’s British Open in 2021, the R&A, the tournament organiser, announced today.
The historic course in Fife will play host to the 150th edition of the tournament from 15 to 18 July, 2021.
Since 1990, the Old Course has been a regular host of the tournament, which it last staged in 2015.
The venue has traditionally hosted the event every five years but the 2020 Open was awarded to Royal St George’s in Kent, England as St Andrews was the preferred venue for the anniversary edition.
This year’s British Open will be staged at Carnoustie, near Dundee, from 19 to 22 July.
The tournament will then be played outside of Scotland or England for only the second time when Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland stages the event in 2019 (having also played host in 1951).
