Euroleague moves into real estate with Turkey's Sinpas
Sinpas, the real estate investment and trust company, has become the latest Turkish sponsor of Euroleague Basketball, the organiser of the top European clubs competition.
Under the deal announced in Istanbul, Sinpas becomes a partner of the top-tier EuroLeague with immediate effect, and is planning to organise a leadership conference for executives from the league and the member clubs, and a special dinner that will bring together its VIP clients and EuroLeague players and coaches.
In addition, Sinpas has launched an advertising campaign involving Zeljko Obradovic, the coach who has a led a record nine EuroLeague-winning teams, including last season’s champions Fenerbahce of Istanbul.
The company is the biggest real estate developer in Turkey, with 12 projects and seven plots in its portfolio.
Sinpas joins other Turkish sponsors of Euroleague Basketball, including EuroLeague title sponsor Turkish Airlines, premium partner Nesine, global partners Tadim, Detur and youwin.tv and regional partners SEK and Odeabank.
Turkish beer brand Efes is a global partner of the EuroLeague Final Four only.
Euroleague Basketball said the new deal came on the back of the success of last year’s Final Four in Istanbul, which was won by Fenerbahce and demonstrated the appeal of the competitions in Turkey and provided an opportunity to reach out to new sectors not traditionally associated with the sport.
Jordi Bertomeu, the president and chief executive of the league body, said: "We are proud that Sinpas is our new partner because this well-respected company expands the scope of our growing sponsorship portfolio to a new industry. To have a real estate investment and trust company see the opportunities for exposure afforded by our competitions shows the many possibilities that elite basketball generates to connect businesses to clients."
This year's EuroLeague Final Four takes place in the Serbian capital Belgrade from 18 to 20 May.
