PyeongChang 2018 travel app goes live
Organisers of the PyeongChang 2018 winter Olympics and Paralympics have announced the release of the official games transport app.
The ‘Go PyeongChang’ app for iOS and Android devices will “minimise the use of personal cars during the Games to ease traffic; provide a connected transport system that will meet the huge demand; be easy to navigate; and help create a green Games.”
PyeongChang said that the exclusive Olympic transport app provides customised information for international visitors who may not be used to navigating public transport systems in Korea.
The app can be customised and is available in the languages of Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, with users able to compare the costs and travel times of different transport options, including high-speed train, shuttle buses, express and intercity buses, subway, city bus, car sharing and taxis.
Users are then able to book and pay for the selected transport directly via the app.
The official PyeongChang 2018 mobile app was launched in November to tie in with the start of the torch relay, and switched to ‘Olympic Games’ mode from yesterday onwards. It includes 3D views and aerial footage of venues and will offer a comprehensive results and athlete information service once the winter Olympics begin on 9 February.
