Qatar Airways steps up sponsorship of New York Formula E race
Qatar Airways, the national airline of the Gulf state, is increasing its support for Formula E, the electric motor racing series, having agreed a deal to be the title sponsor of the race in New York and to continue in the same role for the event in Paris.
The airline is to act as the title sponsor of the Paris ePrix, which is taking place on 28 April, for the second consecutive year having initially signed a deal to be the race’s title sponsor and airline sponsor in 2017.
Last year, Qatar Airways was also the official airline partner of the New York City ePrix.
The company has now expanded its deal to include title sponsorship of the season-ending double-header, which will take place on 14 and 15 July.
In addition, Qatar Airways will take on the role of official airline of the inaugural Rome ePrix on 14 April and the Berlin ePrix on 10 and 11 June.
It was confirmed last week that New York would act as the climax to this year's championship after Montreal pulled out of hosting the original final stop.
Formula E recently secured ABB, the Swiss industrial technology company, as its first title sponsor for the series, in a nine-figure deal that runs until at least 2025.
