NBA tasks Fanatics with launching online stores in Asia-Pacific
North American basketball’s NBA is launching a new range of online retail stores across the Asia-Pacific region, as part of an expanded deal with its existing retail and licensing partner Fanatics, the online sports gear retailer.
Through the agreement, 10 official online NBA stores have now gone live in: Australia; Cambodia; Japan; Laos; Malaysia; Mongolia; New Zealand; Singapore; Thailand and Vietnam.
The NBA online stores will offer a wide range of men’s women’s and youth products from all 30 teams, including on-court apparel from US sports giant Nike, the NBA’s apparel sponsor, and merchandise from sponsors New Era and Mitchell & Ness.
Fans will also be able to purchase personalised team jerseys.
The country-specific web pages will allow customers to browse the stores in local currencies, while delivery times will also be shorter and shipping costs reduced as a result of Fantatics’ centralised distribution point in Asia.
Fanatics presently operates the NBA’s flagship store in New York City, NBAStore.com, the league’s global e-commerce site, and NBAStore.eu, the league’s European online shop.
The company is also an official licensed seller of NBA replica jerseys.
Commenting on the announcement, Lesley Rulloda, NBA Asia associate vice-president, global merchandising, said: “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Fanatics to provide NBA fans across Asia-Pacific with greater access to authentic NBA merchandise
“Basketball’s popularity in Asia-Pacific continues to grow, and our new online NBA Stores with Fanatics will allow us to reach and engage with our expanding fanbase throughout the region.”
