Stora Enso back on board for Nordic World Ski Champs
Stora Enso, a renewable materials company based in Finland, has signed up as the presenting sponsor of the 2019 Nordic World Ski Championships, which will take place in the Austrian town of Seefeld.
The deal continues an association in place for the previous two editions of the event.
The Stora Enso name will be incorporated into the official event logo and title, while its branding will feature on the athletes’ bibs and its renewable raw materials derived from wood will be used on all event installations such as start gates, on the platinum circle in the ski jumping and cross-country stadiums, as well as on the backdrops where skiers are interviewed.
Stora Enso will work with the local organisers on the use of sustainable products throughout the event. This includes renewable wood for temporary buildings, effective waste management systems and renewable materials for arenas.
The sponsorship deal was brokered by Tridem Sports, the Switzerland-based sports marketing agency, on behalf of Infront Sports and Media, the international ski federation's (FIS) exclusive media and marketing partner for the championships.
Stora Enso was the presenting sponsor of the 2017 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti, Finland and main partner of the 2015 edition in Falun, Sweden.
Michael Witta, director of winter sports at Infront, said: “Infront is happy to close the deal with Stora Enso at this early stage. At Infront we firmly value and encourage sustainability and we are pleased to help our partners be more sustainable by connecting them with environmentally conscious brands like Stora Enso. Together with the experienced team in Seefeld and the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV), they will organise an excellent event.”
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 will take place from 19 February to 3 March.
