Formula E and Jaguar team up for new support series in 2018-19
A new support series is to feature alongside Formula E, the electric motor racing competition, starting in the 2018-19 season, following an agreement between the organisers and Jaguar, the renowned British car manufacturer.
The Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy will feature cars based on Jaguar’s first battery electric vehicle, the I-Pace performance SUV, and comprise events alongside selected rounds on the Formula E calendar, using the same circuit layout.
Each round will be made up of a practice session, a qualifying session and a 30-minute race.
Formula E has said that tthe technical specifications, schedule, and participation costs for the series will be released in 2018.
Alejandro Agag, founder and chief executive of Formula E, said: “The competition will offer more entertainment for fans in between sessions and is further testament to the advances in battery technology and exciting electric performance.”
Jaguar Racing made its Formula E debut for the 2016-17 campaign.
The fourth season of Formula E gets under way with the Hong Kong ePrix in December.
