UFC taps Boston Celtics’ Stringer for social media role
UFC, the mixed martial promoter, has named Peter Stringer as its vice-president of social media.
Stringer took up the role at UFC’s headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday.
Stringer joins UFC from the Boston Celtics, of North American basketball’s NBA, where he had been vice-president, digital media since 2005.
During his tenure at the Celtics, Stringer played a role in the launch of the team’s first mobile app and fantasy sports game.
Commenting on the appointment, Lawrence Epstein, UFC chief operating officer, said: “Peter’s overall experience and wealth of knowledge regarding the constantly evolving social media landscape, coupled with his passion for staying ahead of the curve while being innovative makes him a perfect fit to lead our global social team.”
