Meanwhile in Weinheim, Germany a Minigolf world record round of 18 was scored on the Concrete (Beton) format of the game – only the second time a perfect round of 18 holes-in-one has been recorded on the Minigolf playing surface since it was created in the 1950’s.
The 18 aces in one round were made by Bertold Großmann of MGC Sulzfeld on Sunday 1 June during the Badische Meisterschaft tournament.
The only previous round of 18 was made by Stefan Björk in a club tournament in Skoghall, Sweden in 2005. The official world record (recognised in international events) is held by Karel Molnar of the Czech Republic, who scored a round of 19 at the EMF European Minigolf Championships in Vizela, Portugal in 2012.
The Badische Meisterschaft tournament also saw two players score perfect rounds of 18 on the Miniaturegolf (Eternit) playing surface, with Ralf Schmidt-Hess and Michael Oseit managing the feat.
WMF President Gerhard Zimmerman said "All at the World Minigolf Sport Federation would like to congratulate Bertold Großmann on his incredible round in Weinheim. The WMF would also like to thank Nestlé Schöller for their support of minigolf sport in the successful Nestlé Schöller Filzgolf-Masters in Niederstetten and also for the European Cup in October."
The summer season of international Minigolf tournaments tees-off this weekend as the European Minigolf Sport Federation organises the EMF Nations Cup in Neutraubling, Germany and the Seniors Nations Cup in Murnau, Bayern, Germany.
2014 will also see European, Asian and World Minigolf Championships contested in Germany, Iran and Finland.
Nestlé Schöllerwill will also be a sponsor of the Minigolf European Cup taking place in Schriesheim, Germany in October.
