Alisher Usmanov meets the President Thomas Bach at the International Olympic Committee
On November 19, 2014: Mr. Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), had a meeting with Mr. Alisher Usmanov, the President of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), at the IOC’s headquarters in Lausanne.
Mr. Usmanov congratulated Mr. Bach on the adoption of the historic resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations on the autonomy of sport.
Mr. Usmanov presented to Mr. Bach recent proposals of the FIE to develop fencing and to increase its rating in the Olympic family.
Mr. Bach outlined the importance of the new Olympic television channel and the innovative approach to Olympic disciplines that will be on the agenda of the session of the IOC in December 2014.
The Presidents also discussed different aspects of cooperation between their international organizations and other important problems of the Olympic movement.
