Looking ahead to SportelAmerica 2017
David Jones, sales and marketing, Sportel, looks ahead to SportelAmerica in Miami next month.
How are the plans for SportelAmerica shaping up and how has the event further developed since you were last in Miami?
"A lot has changed over the past two years for Sportel overall. With the growth of SportelMonaco to over 3,000 attendees and the double exhibition space, the industry has found a new passion for Sportel and are “head over heels” for SportelAmerica. So far the exhibition spaces is nearly booked out and visitor registrations are up by 22% compared to last time.
"Not only is Sportel an extremely important event for the sports industry, but with new technologies popping up every year, it has become the convention to find new business opportunities in a very selective surrounding."
Which panel sessions are you particularly excited about at this year’s edition?
At this edition of the spring convention we will showcase more insight into Latin America. With panels such as “The Agency Vacuum in Latin America” and the SportelTech panel on “OTT in the Americas” we will shine a light on a very confusing continent where so many need to be.
What sports are worth keeping an eye on for broadcasters and agencies in the market?
Of course SportelAmerica being a very concentrated event on the Americas I believe that soccer and American sports are the most sought after sports the industry will concentrate on. There are great soccer opportunities out of Latin America that agencies will not leave undiscovered.
Approximately how many attendees are you expecting and can you give us an idea of the global involvement / the split of where delegates are from?
Overall expectations are at 700 registered participants and hopefully more. Last SportelAmerica was attended by 689 participants and according to current registrations most attendees are from Europe, followed by the Americas and with an increase from Asia.
SportelAmerica will be held from 14 to 16 March in Miami.
